Comes with a 3 year guarantee not 5....unlike the regular 'plastic' My Passport Ultra Premium....but it doesn't really matteras I've had loads of My Passports and they're all totally reliable and still going strong...(also according to my friends who've borrowed them seemingly on a long term basis!! I've been impressed by the reliability of Western Digital and the backup software compared to other external media. This portable external drive has a high data volume (3TB) which I found stopped me having to move my data to multiple drives when travelling. I always back up the laptop and drive to powered desktop drives. I find multiple drives in different locations are safer than one very high specification drive. Unless you have an IOS Safe your data are at risk from drops, fires, or water and all from theft. So far, after 3 months it's working well (travelling in a padded hard case).

first thoughts were of how smart the metal finish was its very nice and you can just feel that its a good quality product even the box gives this impresion. I got this for extra storage on my xbox one and it works perfect just plugs straight in and xbox promts you to format then its good to go you couldnt ask for it to be any easier and performance wise it possibly plays and loads the games quicker than the default built in hdd so no complaints here. Overall im very pleased with the hard drive and would definitely recommend it if you have a extra few quid

Cheaper disks are available, but could be a false economy. You are probably buying this to store (or back up) precious and perhaps irreplaceable content, so spend a little extra and get this very robust and well-made disk. A bonus is that it has an impressive appearance and will look good on most desks.I've purchased several WD disks over the years, and found them to be both easy to set up and reliable. In essence, you just plug them in and let them work. The only extra step for Mac users is initial formatting, which can be done easily with the macOS Disk Utility program.

Very good value, solid build and light weight. I was drawn to this metal edition because of its very name; it's metal case! I bought the 1T version but I think the 2T version is better value for money. It's small compact design is great for travel as is the Metal case. I bought this for backing up all my work, as a freelance 3d Artist I have plenty of high res images and large file sizes. This is ideal for backing up such data or anything else like video or music. The only thing is the small Western Digital logo is silver plastic stuck on which always catches on things when transporting around. Apart from the nit picking it's a great buy so I'll be be getting the 2T version soon.

This is my second WD My Passport and it does what it says on the tin. Its silent, is fast and just works. Touch wood no hard drive failures. The only little thing are the USB cables are a little bit short (about 40 inch), but I make it work for my set up. Overall quality wise sturdy. Highly recommend.

Great drive, feels premium and solid, bundled software is also good.Read and write speeds are where they should be at 115MB/s sequential read and write. Formatted to exfat straight away with no problems to allow read/write access on both PCs and Macs.Drive shows as 1.81TB in Windows once formatted in exfatI have included a screen capture of the crystaldiskmark benchmark software for reference.

This review is for the Passport Ultra Metal edition 2 tb, blueI own a regular My Passport 2 tb silver drive, and I've been using it quite intense in the last two years or so.I decided to buy another drive, the metal edition of My Passport, as the drive looks good in pictures, and I needed another one anyway.So here it is, and I want to share some thoughts, perhaps helping others undecided yet.pro:-drive performs as specified, runs pretty cool, actually slightly warm to the touch after copying large amounts of data.-looks good from a distance.-I did not tested the cloud or encription or any other things, as I'm not interested. I only use it for backup and transfer.cons:-drive looks much better in the pictures then in reality. It does indeed have a shiny surface, but it's not smooth, it has some kind of texture on it, if you run your finger on the surface there's a "whiizzz" sound because of that fine texture. I personally hate it.-also, in the pictures drive looks slimmer than in reality, the pictures have been elongated somehow so the drive looks thinner. Scroll down at the description to see a more real picture of it, as it is bulkier than you'd expect. In fact, it has the same thickness as a regular my passport, and the same weight, you wouldn't be able to differentiate them by naked eye.-the shiny textured surface is a fingerprint magnet. Pretty soon, all the grease from your fingers will transfer onto drive, and you will clearly see it 'cause it shines.All in all, I'm giving this a three star, because it performs as expected, but in reality it looks much worse than in the pictures, and I think alot of people will buy this because how it looks, actually.

Diese externe Festplatte kann für die unterschiedlichsten Zwecke verwendet werden. Sie besticht durch ihre sehr einfache Handhabung, Plug & Play, fertig. Es können natürlich die mitgelieferten Features genutzt werden, das bleibt jedoch jedem selbst überlassen. Wir nutzen die externe Platte als Backup-System für vollständige Systemabbilder unserer PCs, Notebooks, Tablets, usw. inklusive aller Datenbestände. Die Maße Länge x Breite betragen 11 x 8 cm und die Dicke misst 2 cm. Die Verarbeitung ist sehr hochwertig und präzise. Sie arbeitet unhörbar, außer man legt das Ohr direkt an, und ist somit bestens für den Bürobetrieb geeignet. Der Anschluss erfolgt nur mit einem USB Kabel. Dieses ist leider nur 40 cm lang. Ca. 80 bis 100 cm wären definitiv besser, aber das kann erworben werden. Was sehr praktisch ist, dass es keine externe Stromversorgung gibt, also kein Netzteil, kein zusätzliches Kabel und kein Problem mit unterschiedlichen Stromspannungen in anderen Ländern. Diese Platte ist auch für den globalen Einsatz bestens geeignet.Eines muss jedoch beachtet werden, die Speichergeschwindigkeit ist von der jeweiligen Hardware (Platte, Controller, USB Version, usw.) abhängig. Wir hatten festgestellt, dass bei SSD- und SAS-Platten in Verbindung mit neuen 64-Bit Rechnergenerationen und 64-Bit Betriebssystemen die Übertragungsgeschwindigkeit hoch ist, während sie bei älteren Rechnern und langsamen SATA-Platten deutlich niedriger liegt. Die Hardware Geschwindigkeit und Übertragungskapazitäten der einzelnen Hardware-Komponenten sind daher sehr wichtig. Bei älteren Geräten kann auch eine Formatierung der Platte durch das Gerät selbst manchmal zur Verbesserung beitragen.
