Somewhat flimsy, but it works
I originally gave this a 3-star rating, but after going back to the course a third time, the retriever actually worked, for the most part. It is somewhat flimsy, so it doesn't really do well when it is extended to the max distance, but it does work for the most part.

Convenient
Shorter size when not extended makes storage easier. Extends to a nice length. Hard to capture ball until you catch on to technique.

Super sturdy and durable ~ great price
Got this for my hubby and he loves it.very sturdy, super lightweight and easy to use. Has paid for itself for all the balls it’s saved out of lakes and ponds.It took a while to figure out how to catch, but after a few tries to get use to it; it’s effortless. it's very easy to use. Handle has a comfy gripIt's a must have now!! when you have your lucky charm ball and dont want to lose it.Would buy it again

Ball retriever/grabber
The ball grabber does not screw into end of handle as designed. Had to use a wall screw insert to make it work. Ball retriever works great.

Bought this for my husband. He can now retrieve his golf balls from the water, or retrieve his golf balls without "bending over!" HA!

Fails to hold the golf ball submerged in water
Does not grab and hold the ball while in the waterThis is a clever design but poor choice of materials for the cup part. For me it was both money and time wasted. How is it supposed to work: You drop the cup-end of the retriever on top of the ball which is submerged in water. The cup which swivels will drop over the ball due to gravity, and the “tooth” underneath the ball together with the cup above the ball will hold the ball captive. But in this product, the cup which is made of plastic is either buoyant (or nearly so) so that while in water, the cup floats up and swivels open, therefore there is nothing to hold the ball captive. So the ball falls out, and I try again and again… At least one other reviewer said as much and tried to solve the problem with a rubber band to act as a cup closing mechanism. By the way, today I stopped by a local golf store and saw the same design, except the cup was made of metal, so presumably it wouldn’t float up and open on its own…

Telescopic Ball Retriever
Fantastic unit. Shrinks down to fit inside golf bag so not rattling around with the clubs! Very pleased with unit.
