this is such a good book to understand the concept of application of accounting standards quickly but it needs many latest updates of IFRS in it. Example IAS 18 but it should have IFRS 15

This is an exceptionally clear and helpful book. I'm working my way through it at the moment, learning all about IFRS without reading a thousand pages. Steven Collings only lets the side down in Chapter 3: adapting IFRSvfor the first time. Here (as elsewhere in the book) he compares IFRS with "local GAAP" - i.e. not necessarily UK GAAP. Note also that the book uses $$ for all amounts. This is probably thanks to the publishers, who wanted a book not exclusively for the UK. So, a superb book for learning about IFRS - but you need another book of his to take you further. Have a look on his page on Amazon: he has recently written a more expensive one, explaining UK GAAP, IFRS, big companies, small companies etc etc.

Helpful and well written

I came accross this book in Amazon site and preview was undertaken , then I came to know that this book has valuble content. Immediately , I ordered for this book. I have gone through first 4 chapters and convinced that there is conceptual clarity.we need not search for required matter, because all reqired things are hilighted in the book. It is useful forthe novice and experienced in application of IFRS principles. I recommend thi book to all those dealing with financial statements .
