Multicultural Education: Issues and Perspectives 8th Edition

I had to purchase this book for a culture class, but the purchase was well worth it. The book is arranged in essay form and treats on a variety of topics. I would recommend it strongly for anyone interested in exploring culture, and particularly for students who want to establish an environment of value and care for all of their students.The approach of the book is not one that "talks down" to diverse cultures, but critically considered hegemony and how power structures have evolved. The book also includes essays that share not only theory, but thoughtful ideas to incorporate into classroom instruction.

This has different chapters written by different people. James Banks, a noted expert on the subject, writes two himself and then invites highly respected experts to add a chapter on their topic of specialization. Most are very readable and chapters are a reasonable length.

Absurdly expensive... Professors that require you to buy $130+ books should be required to pay half of it out of their own pocket.
