Msr Dragonfly Combo Cooking System

I bought this as an alternative to my Jet boil, both stoves have their pro's and con's. The dragonfly is my go to stove for hillwalking if I'm going to be out for a few Days. It excels at simmering so it's a better cooking stove than the jet boil which is more of a water boiler. It's very economical on fuel and can burn a variety of different fuels, I burn petrol in it mostly. I takes a while to get used to the priming procedure but it doesn't take long to get the hang of it. I prefer to light a camp fire when I bivvie up for the night so sometimes I need a little fuel from the bottle to get things going. This is probably one of the biggest advantages of a fuel stove over a gas stove for me. It comes in a stuff sack with a foil windbreak and a foil heat shield along with a number of different jets to correspond with different fuel types. I purchased mine with the medium size fuel bottle which is adequate for my needs. It is not as streamlined as the Jet boil when it comes to packing it away but all in all a quality product that has never given me any trouble.

Excellent bit of gear. Managed to do 18 days on the outer hebrides using 1.2 litres of fuel, cooking 2-3 meals a day for me and the wife.

does the job. get a wind break with it. not as quick as a jetboil to boil water but takes all types of fuel

Superb bit of kit. I run on Parafin and it is mega furious but controllable. As people have said, it is loud, but thats because it is like a jet flame and gets the job done.As a Scout leader this is always with me
