You need to reach around the back and turn off the alarm. Then turn it on before the next alarm time.

Q: Can the clock display be dimmed or turned completely off at night?

Yes, there is a dial with 'display' texted on the back of the alarm clock, turn it to dim or turn off the clock display.

Q: How do you turn off alarm so it wont go off?

If you want to turn off the alarm for the day when it goes off, hitting any physical button except the snooze button will do. If you'd like to disable the alarm, pressing the alarm1/alarm2 button will do(alarm icon will disappear from the display as well). Hope this helps.
