I upgraded my old MacBook (when Apple made it possible) over the years so there was an accumulation of 2.5" SATA drives, both conventional and SSDs.I bought this caddy to house four drives, enabling me to store image files and backups. I have two 1Tb drives, a 640Gb drive and a 4Tb SSD. All work fine with this product, connected to a MacBook or iMac. Data transfer rates are good enough for me but I realise that I haven't said anything definitive there. Typical image files are 20-30Mb and I move hundreds at a time.I am withholding a single star because the telltale lights on the front of the caddy no longer work, except during start up.

I had an older drive dock that was failing to read disks consistently. It would read a lot of gig then my pc would eject the dock. As it was happening on several disks I decided to buy this sabrent on the off chance it was the disk dock. It worked a treat, some of my disks are years old backup disks but this baby read them fine on the first go. So 5 stars, a good price and it saved me loads of grief.

I got a new computer recently and before getting rid of the old one he removed the hard drive. I didn’t think that I would need it again, but I recently realised I needed something off it. So I asked my son was there any way that I could get something to turn this into an external drive. He pointed me towards this.It’s not to small or too large.. I plugged it into the mains and connected it to a USB drive on my computer and up it popped as a new external drive. It was as simple as that and I was then able to access the Data that I required. It can take two hard drive and even more functionality. It looks good, but it is of a slight build. It doesn’t need to be big and bulky as it’s really just two slots for hard drives.

First time I used this gizmo, it seemed to work fine - I could read & write to my HDDs without any trouble - first a single HDD - then 2 together - no apparent problems - second time however .... different story - on loading up the HDDs (same ones as I used before), I was greeted by a message stating that "this disk needs to be initialised before you can use it" - same message for both disks - tried them on a different device - one which has worked fine for many years but has a slower USB connection - no change - both HDDs now completely unreadable - all data on both .... lost forever - if you wish to lose all your data, then this is definitely the device for you - although, to be honest, you could simply reformat your HDDs - same result - but far less expense - never going to touch anything from this company ever again
